We at MPI Protective believe wholeheartedly in the positive impact healthy businesses have on their communities. We strive each day to craft meaningful solutions and implement them in such a way that allows for companies to be fearless, for good people to be unstoppable, and to improve the quality of life for those within the communities we share, restoring faith one step at a time.
Since 1993, we’ve been empowering local businesses with a range of custom security and investigative services. Deeply rooted in decades of proven industry expertise and our integrity-driven approach, we provide solutions that demonstrate the value we see in giving local businesses the power to thrive.
Our unique approach to security will work for any business.
Our goal is to get your problem solved. For us, that means pooling resources and calling on affiliates whenever and wherever necessary to bolster efforts and provide you with efficient, meaningful results.
MPI Training embraces the mindset that if you can maintain control and neutralize situations without laying a finger—that's a win. Every time. We train MPI Officers to handle absolutely anything that comes their way. Whether an incident tactically requires verbal or physical de-escalation, our officers will be discerning and disciplined. MPI Officers are tactful, leading with respect, and treating people with dignity. No matter what. That's our MPI Guardian Mentality.
We are inherently people-driven and obsessed with providing human-centered security. We established the MPI Approach to reframe how we do what we do—taking the emphasis away from the industry standard of relying on brute force to save the day and, instead, injecting compassion and humility back into security and protective services. As a family, we believe companies should operate with more concern for exactly how we represent and impact the communities we do business within. The MPI Approach resulted from this--ensuring everything we do embodies a core set of values that drive each decision we make.
We operate on a case-by-case basis. Before we do anything, we hear you tell us what's going on.
Our experts head to the drawing board & craft a custom MPI strategy developed specifically for you with your very own Standard Operating Procedure.
3. Based on your needs and the plan we develop, we put boots on the ground and get you the meaningful results you need to thrive.

Chief, Shawn Smith Sr. lost his fight with 9/11 exposure-related cancer.
Shawn Smith Jr., the firstborn son of founder Shawn Smith Sr became the second company CEO. Taking the lead amid grief and a global pandemic, Shawn Jr. navigated MPI to an impressively fit year, further proving his ability to carry and build upon the legacy handed to him. We, as a family, are eager to watch as he continues to demonstrate his prowess as a leader and take MPI to new heights–making Chief proud.
Present Day
Today we carry on our family-owned and operated legacy with our CEO Shawn Smith Jr. bookended by sisters Anna and Kathleen Smith. MPI continues to drive forward—proudly representing the next generation of private security while modeling each value that got us here. With an ambitious blue-collar, die-hard small business owner for a father, one could definitely argue that we were bred for this. We believe we were born for this.
MPI pumps through our veins along with the mission it represents, fueling us with more determination and confidence than ever to bring the MPI legacy to new heights.
Rest easy, Dad. We’ve got this.
